In Memoriam - Bob Lecours - 1954-2012

We have lost a great man, friend and coach with the passing of Toronto Mets 18U coach Bob Lecours. Bob passed on Friday Jan 27th, at Scarborough Grace Hospital following a massive stroke suffered the previous weekend. He had been in a coma and did not regain consciousness.

Our deepest sympathies and our prayers go out to Bob's wife Dana and daughter Taylor. The family wishes to express their appreciation to all Toronto Mets players, parents, alumni, coaches & supporters as well the rest of the baseball community for their support during this tough time.  Your fond memories and kind words at both the visitation and funeral meant a great deal to them.

Bob's family have advised that those wishing to express sentiments are welcome to make a personal donation to the Alzheimer's Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.  Bob will always be in our hearts and mind as we the the field this season and he leaves us with his passion for baseball instilled in each and every single person he came into contact with.

Toronto Mets Overview

The Toronto Mets Baseball Club (TMBC) has been, and continues to be, committed to the development of high performance amateur baseball in the City of Toronto. We are members of the Toronto Baseball Association, Baseball Ontario, and the Premier Baseball League of Ontario (PBLO).

We field individual teams at the 16 & under and 18 & under age groups.  Our home parks are Talbot Park and Bond Park in Toronto, Ontario.

Our program is designed to provide balance between playing baseball at an elite level and getting a good education, with education always coming first.  To support these objectives, we strive to:

  • Provide players with the highest level of instruction and playing opportunity
  • Play in Canadian and U.S. tournaments, including Spring Training in Florida, in an effective way, limiting time away from school and still providing for maximum exposure and training through fall / spring / summer / schedule of games and practices.
  • Maintain reasonable program costs, as the past has shown many athletes to accomplish their education and baseball goals through cost effective means while learning and playing great baseball
