2023 Mets Alumni Professional Recap

In 2023, the Toronto Mets had 6 alumni playing in affiliated Professional Baseball.

Here is a recap of their respective seasons;


Tyler Black 3B (2018) - Milwaukee Brewers

Black closed out his 3rd season in style splitting time between AA Biloxi and AAA Nashville.  He hit .284 with 18 HR and 74 RBI to go along with 55 SB.  He earned himself the Brewers Minor League Player of the Year and is currently the 51st ranked prospect in the MLB.


Mitch Bratt LHP (2021) - Texas Rangers

Bratt, a Newmarket native finished 2023 with a 2-3 record for the A+ Hickory Crawdads.  He earned himself a place in the Arizona Fall League.  He is currently the Rangers number 17 prospect.


Denzel Clarke OF (2018) - Oakland Athletics

Clarke finished his 3rd season with the A's playing for AA Midland Rockhounds where he hit .261 with 12 HR and 43 RBI.  He is currently the A's number 3 prospect.


Liam Hicks C (2017) - Texas Rangers

Hicks, who is in his 3rd year in the Rangers system hit .275 with 4 HR and 45 RBI while splitting his time between A+ Hickory and AA Frisco.  His play earned him a spot in the Arizona fall league where he continued his strong work with the bat where he played in the AFL All Star Game and was named to the All-AFL team.


Ryan Leitch C (2019) - Philadelphia Phillies

Leitch (pictured) completed his second in the Phillies organization.  He hit .247 with 7 HR and 23 RBI and fielded .998 for the single A Clearwater Threshers.  His 7 HR ranked him second in the Florida State League for catchers.


Jonah Tong RHP (2022) - New York Mets

Tong a 2022 7th rounder got his first taste of professional baseball in 2023.  Jonah wen 0-2 with a 6.86 ERA between the FCL and single A St Lucie.  His 17.8 K per 9 led the FCL.
