MIDWEEK MASTERY AND OTTAWA DOMINATION HIGHLIGHT RAIN-SHORTENED WEEK 4
Weather may have forced several cancellations across the province this weekend, but it couldn’t slow down the Toronto Mets. Week 4 of the CPBL season was defined by lights-out midweek performances, extra-inning drama, and an absolute offensive clinic in the nation’s capital. When the sun did shine, the Mets capitalized heavily, matching spectacular pitching performances with a barrage of crucial home runs.
18u: Flawless Midweek Outing Clinches Victory Before Weekend Washout
The 18u squad maximized their only game of the week, putting on an absolute clinic to secure a 1-0 record before Mother Nature completely washed out their weekend schedule. Facing off against the York Simcoe Titans on Wednesday night at St. Andrew's College, the Mets clicked in all facets of the game to cruise to a dominant 11-1 victory. Elliot Lascelles spearheaded the 11-hit offensive explosion, turning in a spectacular 3-for-4 performance highlighted by a pair of two-run doubles in the second and fourth innings to finish with a massive four RBIs. Jackson Doyle added extra thump to the lineup with an RBI double of his own, while Dylan Schubert turned in a sharp multi-hit night. On the mound, Gus Reid set a flawless tone by earning the win with two hitless, scoreless frames, while Alex Blundell, Kaydan Gupta, and Jacob Hawco each followed with pristine, zero-run relief appearances. Backed by a perfectly clean, errorless defensive effort in the field, the Mets put together a complete team victory before the rain clouds halted the rest of their weekend action.
17u: Weekday Power Surge Secures Victory Before Weekend Washout
The 17u squad made the absolute most of their lone appearance of the week, securing a gritty 1-0 record after their entire weekend schedule was completely washed out by rain. Taking the field on Thursday night against Team Ontario, the Mets' offense erupted early to build a commanding six-run lead by the third inning. Nate Rowan ignited the scoring by launching a towering two-run home run to left field in the second, while Noah Glenn and Liam Mace kept the pressure on by slashing back-to-back RBI doubles in the third. Both Glenn and Rowan finished the day with multi-hit, three-RBI performances to anchor the 11-hit attack. On the mound, Jacob Lonjak turned in a strong starting performance, holding the opposition to just one earned run over five solid innings of work. Although Team Ontario mounted a fierce late-inning comeback attempt, the Mets held their ground to secure a 9-7 victory before the rain clouds moved in for the weekend.
16u: Extra-Inning Thriller and Walk-Off Drama Result in Friday Split
The 16u squad endured a weekend cut short by Mother Nature, finishing with a 1-1 record after Saturday and Sunday's games were completely rained out. The action they did get on Friday against the Terriers was packed with drama, beginning with a spectacular 2-1 extra-inning victory in the opener. Nate Hill was absolutely dominant on the mound, carving up the lineup with 11 strikeouts over six frames of three-hit ball, before Kole Dunnett launched a dramatic, game-tying solo home run to left field in the top of the seventh. Quinlan Walsh then delivered the game-winning RBI single in the top of the eighth, while Quinn Daniels threw two hitless innings in relief to seal the win behind a completely errorless defense. The nightcap proved to be an absolute track meet, where the Mets built a commanding 9-4 lead by the fourth inning fueled by a three-RBI performance from Harry Phillips and a two-RBI single from Dylan Strashin. However, the Terriers mounted a furious six-run comeback in the bottom of the sixth to snatch a heartbreaking 10-9 walk-off win, leaving the Mets with a hard-fought Friday split before the rain clouds moved in.
14u Minor: Thrilling Comeback and Defensive Battle Yield Unbeaten Sunday
The 14u Minor squad showed spectacular resolve on Sunday, heading home with a 1-0-1 record after a pair of gritty clashes against GLC. The day opened with a dramatic, late-inning thriller against GLC Jacques, where the Mets clawed back from a late-game deficit in the top of the seventh. Bryce Hayle single-handedly powered the offense, driving in five runs on the day and delivering the definitive, game-winning blow with a spectacular grand slam to center field to secure an 8-5 victory. Chase MaGee set a strong foundation in that opener, striking out seven over five competitive innings on the mound. The momentum carried into the afternoon nightcap against GLC Theal, which transformed into an elite defensive and pitching duel. Noah Fernandez was outstanding early, tossing three scoreless, two-hit innings with four strikeouts, while Brandon Rawn provided the lone offense with an RBI double in the fifth. Backed by a completely flawless defensive performance that didn't commit a single error in the field, the Mets held their ground to secure a hard-fought 1-1 draw and cap off an unbeaten Sunday.
13u: Offensive Masterclass Highlights Unbeaten Weekend in Ottawa
The 13u squad put on an absolute offensive clinic during their road trip to the nation's capital, dominating ONC Elite to finish the weekend with an outstanding 3-0-1 record. The series opened with a spectacular 10-0 shutout victory, where Hayden S was untouchable on the mound, striking out nine over five innings of one-hit ball, while Liam C punctuated a 15-hit explosion with a two-run home run to left field. The momentum carried right into Saturday's nightcap as Eli Mwent a perfect 3-for-3 with a home run to center field to anchor a 10-2 win, backed by five strong innings from Connor H. Eli M then flipped to the mound in Game 3, racking up nine strikeouts in a one-hit, 11-0 blowout that featured a solo blast from Hayden S and a two-run double by Tristan R. The weekend wrapped up with a high-scoring 10-10 thriller on Sunday where Tristan R launched a two-run home run to left field as part of a 4-RBI day and the team swiped 10 bases, putting an exclamation mark on an incredibly dominant, undefeated road trip.
