Sweeps, Slams, and Tournament Showcases: Mets Dominate the Diamond in Week 6
It was another high-octane week of baseball for the Toronto Mets organization. While several squads stayed local to put on absolute clinics in league play, others packed their bags for elite tournament showcases. The 14u Minor and Major teams traveled south to Indianapolis to test their mettle in the prestigious ABC Tournament, while the 16u and 18u squads stayed in Ontario to fight for the Perfect Game National Championship in London. Across all levels, the Mets showcased the depth, pitching prowess, and defensive excellence that have defined their 2026 season.
17u: Power Surge and Clutch Relief Guide Perfect Sunday Sweep
The 17u squad stayed red-hot on Sunday, flexing their offensive muscles late in both games to secure a flawless 2-0 sweep of the Ontario Royals. In the opener, the Mets jumped out early on solo shots by Evan Walker and a two-run blast from Nate Rowan, but after the Royals fought back to tie it, Noah Stanley delivered a clutch, go-ahead two-run single in the fifth to ignite a 10-4 win. Eli Kennedy earned the win on the mound, while Luciano Montanaro set an authoritative tone early with four strikeouts in two hitless frames. The second game followed a similar script, with the Mets breaking a late 2-2 tie in the bottom of the sixth when Christian Iriotakis launched a decisive two-run home run to right field. Nate Rowan and Blake Hayter tacked on insurance RBI knocks to cement the 6-2 victory, backing a masterful relief appearance from Cooper Robertson, who slammed the door by striking out six over three hitless, scoreless innings.
15u: Flawless Four-Game Sweep Showcases Dominant Pitching and Offensive Explosion
The 15u squad put together a masterclass performance on the diamond, executing a flawless 4-0 sweep of the York Simcoe Titans. The weekend opened with a gritty 8-6 victory on Saturday, where Josiah Vaisanen led a 10-hit attack by going 3-for-4, before James Hermogenes and Vaisanen delivered clutch RBI knocks in the seventh to break a late tie, backing five scoreless relief frames from Marcus Murdoch. The offense completely erupted in Saturday's nightcap during a 20-2 routing, highlighted by a staggering 11-run sixth inning; Corby Quiambao set the tone out of the leadoff spot with three hits, while Charlie Anthony and Panos Spiliopoulos each drove in three runs to support a dominant, six-inning two-hit performance from Cash Simmons. Sunday brought much of the same relentless energy, beginning with a 16-0 shutout masterpiece in Game 3. Aryan Pandey was utterly untouchable on the mound, racking up 11 strikeouts over four innings of two-hit ball, while Charlie Anthony spearheaded a 12-hit barrage by going 2-for-3 with four RBIs. The Mets capped off their perfect weekend with a crisp 11-1 finale, using a six-run first inning to cruise to victory behind multi-hit games from Nicholas Shimoda, Ryan Raymond, Cash Simmons, and Marcus Murdoch, while the pitching staff combined to surrender just two hits to seal a truly dominant weekend.
13u: High-Scoring Offense and Gutsy Relief Secure Unbeaten Sunday
The 13u squad put together an impressive, resilient performance on Sunday against GLC, heading home with an unbeaten 1-0-1 record after a pair of high-octane battles. The opener turned into an absolute slugfest at Dorchester Road, highlighted by Hayden S racking up 10 strikeouts over four strong innings and Eli M putting on a masterclass at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with a solo home run and two doubles. The Mets racked up 14 hits in total, battling back to capture a late lead before GLC manufactured a bottom-of-the-seventh equalizer to force a 9-9 draw. The afternoon finale saw the Mets flex their muscles to secure a hard-fought 9-7 victory. Trailing early, the offense completely flipped the script with a massive five-run fourth inning, punctuated by a towering three-run home run to left field by Liam C, who finished the game 2-for-2 with three RBIs. Connor H provided spectacular relief on the mound, striking out seven over four frames to earn the win, while Adam M locked down the final outs to secure the save and cap off an undefeated Sunday.
