Toronto Mets Launch Holiday Heroes Drive to Support Families Across York Region
The Toronto Mets, in partnership with the Baseball Performance Centre and Toronto Cyclones, are proud to support York Regional Police’s 29th annual Holiday Heroes Campaign, running now through Friday, December 19, 2025. This long-standing community initiative provides vital support to under-resourced children, families, and individuals facing hardship during the holiday season.
Donations are being collected at the Baseball Performance Centre and will go directly to families within York Region who are experiencing financial or personal challenges.
What the Community Can Donate
The organizations are encouraging players, families, and community members to contribute any of the following:
New toys
New clothing
Non-perishable food items
Hygiene products
Essential household items
Gift cards (grocery, retail)
Transit tickets/passes
Gift cards and transit tickets are particularly impactful, giving families the freedom to purchase what they need and offering transportation support for work, school, and critical appointments.
A Thank-You to Donors
To show appreciation, the Toronto Mets are offering a special incentive. Each donated item earns the donor one ballotfor a chance to win 2 tickets to a Toronto Blue Jays game in the Rogers Banner Club—one of the most premium viewing experiences at Rogers Centre. A winner will be selected following the close of the drive.
Leadership Perspectives
Toronto Mets General Manager Lawrence Vera emphasized the importance of using baseball as a vehicle for community support.
“Baseball teaches us teamwork, responsibility, and giving back. Partnering with Holiday Heroes allows our organizations to truly live those values,” said Vera. “If we can help even one family feel supported this season, it’s worth every effort.”
Toronto Mets President Ryan McBride highlighted how meaningful this campaign is for the entire Mets community.
“Our players, parents, and staff have always stepped up when the community needs it,” McBride said. “Holiday Heroes is an opportunity for us to come together beyond the field and make a real difference for families who may be struggling this time of year.”
How to Participate
Donations can be dropped off at the Baseball Performance Centre during regular hours between now and December 19. All items collected will be delivered through the Holiday Heroes program to ensure they reach families in need across York Region.
