WALK-OFFS AND SHOWCASES: METS DOMINATE WEEK 2 ACTION
The Toronto Mets organization kept the momentum rolling through the second week of the CPBL season. From high-profile scout showcases to dramatic seventh-inning comebacks, the orange and blue were firing on all cylinders across the province.
CPBL Showcase: 17u & 18u Shine Under the Lights
The senior teams took center stage at the CPBL Showcase, performing in front of a heavy social media presence and a gallery of scouts at Royal Field.
18u (2-1):Powell set the tone with a 9-strikeout masterpiece against OBJ. The bats erupted in a 13-7 finale, highlighted by another Matthias Macnamara home run and a barrage of doubles from Lascelles, Kuypers, Duda, and Hancock.
17u (2-1): Provided the highlight of the season so far. Trailing 13-11 in the bottom of the 7th against ABC, Rowanlaunched a legendary walk-off grand slam. The momentum carried into a 4-2 win over Team Ontario, powered by Lonjak’s 6-inning, 1-run gem.
13u: The Undefeated Streak Continues
The 13u squad put on an absolute clinic, posting a 5-0-1 record for the week. The week opened with Hayden striking out 16 Blue Jays in a shutout win, while Liam established himself as a power threat with two home runs. The team showed "championship resolve" in Windsor, highlighted by Tristan’s two-triple game and a gutsy 7th-inning steal of home by Hayden to secure a tie and keep the undefeated streak alive.
14u Divisions: Gritty Series vs. OBJ
Both 14u squads engaged in heavyweight battles against the Ontario Blue Jays at St. Andrew’s College.
14u Minor (3-1): Displayed incredible plate discipline, drawing 43 walks over the weekend. MaGee dominated Game 1 with 9 Ks, while Hayle went 3-for-4 in a nail-biting 9-8 Sunday victory to clinch the series win.
14u Major (1-2-1): A series defined by dramatics. After clawing back for a 7-7 tie, Garcia slammed the door with 6 Ks in relief to secure a 3-2 win. Young was a menace on the paths, swiping four bases over the weekend.
15u & 16u: Sunday Fireworks
15u (1-0-1):Vaisanen was a one-man wrecking crew against Ottawa (ONC), driving in a staggering 9 RBIs over the doubleheader. Blomeley and Pandey led a pitching staff that held firm in a dominant 13-3 nightcap win.
16u (1-1): After a Saturday rainout, the Mets launched a four-homer explosion in a 15-5 win over Fieldhouse. Hillled the charge with two long balls and 5 RBIs, while Marshall and Sunohara-Thompson also cleared the yard.
